Familian Spikers dismantle Trinity University of Asia
The Familian Spikers ousted the Trinity University of Asia for the finals spot, 25-15, 25-16 in the AAPS District 4 volleyball tournament at the Familian Court, Thursday.
Tied at 7-7 in the second set, the Spikers pushed through to take the lead at 11-7 capped by Elizabeth Ballesca’s 4 consecutive service aces. Another 3 consecutive service aces by Jillian Ordoñez sealed the Spikers’ win, 25-16.
Trailing in the first set, Tricia Balagat dropped back-to-back attacks to tie the game at 2-2. The team captain, Alyssa Angkaw, further fueled their momentum with a spike, 22-13 followed by a drop ball from Erin Navarro to close the first frame, 25-15.
Keem Jacob dropped 5 points for the Spikers composed of 4 service aces and 1 attack.
Teamwork, communication, and focus inside the court were Jacob’s answers when asked about their advantage over their opponent, “As a player, kailangan may motivation ka,” the setter added.
The Trinity University of Asia varsity team managed to create a total of 8 points with 4 service aces and 4 attacks.
