Familians secure medals at CMLI convention

Familians bagged three silver awards, among 23 schools nationwide, for the OPM Quartet Singing, Pop Quiz Hotshots, and Essay Writing Filipino at the Children’s Museum and Library Inc. (CMLI) 59th Annual Convention held in Baguio City last November 8-12, 2017, with the theme “Dream for the Nation”.

The representatives for the OPM quartet singing, Ardeen Hermione Medina, Gian Carla Po, Stephanie Jane Melendres, and Enya Maxine Santiaguel, performed their own rendition of “Tuloy Pa Rin” by Neocolours, adding their own twist at the beginning by delivering an emotion-packed monologue backed with evocative yet soothing vocals.

The Pop Quiz Hotshots participants, Sharisse Mae Molino and Geraldine Pearl Santos, who won 2nd place in a clincher round for the 2nd and 3rd place, were only one point short from winning the gold.

Gabrielle Valencia, who secured 2nd place in the Essay Writing Filipino, wrote a stunning piece depicting and describing what it means to be a hero at the present age.

The Battle of the Bands contestants, Stephanie Jane Melendres, Marlene Panganiban, Geraldine Pearl Santos, Enya Maxine Santiaguel, and Gabrielle Valencia, who performed in the finals round, played their own versions of “Animal” by Neon Trees, and “Tagpuan” by Kamikazee.

Fifteen CMLI delegates represented the school: Solo Singing, OPM Quartet Singing, Battle of the Bands, Extemporaneous Speaking, Pop Quiz Hotshots, Marketing Speech, Radio Drama, News Writing, Essay Writing, Poster Making, Photojournalism, Digital Poster Making.
