Familian Spikers outsmart Notre Dame of Greater Manila

The Familian Spikers (under 18 developmental division) survived the grit of the volleyball varsity team of Notre Dame of Greater Manila last Sunday at the Xavier School, San Juan to produce a 25-12, 18-25, 18-16 finish in the 22nd Women’s Volleyball League (WVL).

Back-to-back attacks from Erin Navarro lit the Spikers’ flame to take the lead, 5-1 in the third frame. Determined Nicole Angkaw sealed their win with a spike, 18-16, despite a few errors exchanged that extended the thrilling set.

Denise Arroyo and Navarro attempted to chase the opponent with a service ace and attack, respectively, 18-24 but their competitor distanced themselves and forced a deciding set.
