SHS holds turnover rites

The Grade 12 students passed on their responsibilities and legacies to the Grade 11 students during the Senior High School Turnover Rites held on February 9, 2018, upholding the theme “Sharing Leadership Through Service: A Familian Legacy”.

The program started with a processional where Grade 12 students with their Grade 11 partners marched from the lobby to their respective seats at the Familian Court. A brief yet solemn Paraliturgy was then held. The Key of Responsibility, the Scepter of Power, the Book of Knowledge, and the Torch of Light were symbolically offered to the Holy Family in Nazareth.

After the Paraliturgy, the guest speaker, Ms. Kathy Angela M. Illustre, through her inspirational speech, proved that a true Familian has the will and passion to serve and lead her brothers and sisters in Christ.

The program proper ensued after a 10-minute break. In the candle ceremony, each pair of Grade 11 and Grade 12 students went up the stage, and took part in a symbolic turnover of responsibilities, the Grade 11 students giving the Grade 12 students pink roses, and the Grade 12 students passing on a lighted candle to the Grade 11 students. The Class History, narrated by Vernice Bongato and Maxine Santiaguel, which highlighted the highs and lows, and the cherished memories of Batch Invincible, the Grade 12 students, followed. The Batch Prophecy, presented by Kylie Lunas and Dana Ronsayro, envisioned the future of the Grade 12 students. It was then followed by the presentation of a video clip showing the memories of the Grade 12 students then and now. The Class Will and Testament, declared by Zoe Apostol and Gabrielle Valencia, articulated the legacies and responsibilities which the Grade 12 students passed on to the Grade 11 students.

Key items were also turned over; the Key of Responsibility, passed from Dreena Montalbo to Chelzee Vasquez, the Torch of Light, passed from Sharisse Molino to Agatha Borras, the Scepter of Power, passed from Jillian Velasco to Pamela Corpuz, and the Book of Knowledge, passed from Geraldine Santos to Erika Arroyo.

Jillian Velasco then delivered her Alma Mater Speech, highlighting that the Grade 12 students, who imbibed the Nazareth values, will soon leave the portals of their Alma Mater, ready to fulfil their responsibilities as 21st century women servant leaders.
