The Elementary Familian Spikers bounce back with a win



The elementary Familian Spikers bagged their first win on October 8, 2019, held at the familian covered court against the elementary volleyball team of St. Joseph’s College (SJC). They ended the game strong with the scores of 25:11 and 25:17.


The first service was made by SJC’s Agbayani, which ended with a service error resulting to HFS’ Cachero to take the stage with 7 service aces, thus HFS was able to score 7:0 in no time.


A net error from HFS paved the way for SJC to redeem themselves as they started a rally, but nonetheless was ended quickly by their Gupaal’s net error, which gave HFS another point making the score 8:1. Dela Cruz starts a rally, but SJC’s liberos finished it with a receive error from Tubio, the score being 8:2.


A score of 14:4 on the scoreboard before Tianco was up and ready to deliver a service, a successful one at that. An error from SJC gave Tianco the opportunity to give two more service aces and a serve that lead a rally finished by her own receive error putting the score at 17:5.


SJC's Salazar sends the ball, HFS was not able to receive... point to opponents. Giving three more service aces and ended her fifth serve’s rally with a service error. Tubio was up to serve. Four consecutive rallies were made by alternating teams, the score 22:11, HFS showcasing undeniable athleticism and teamwork.


Finally, Cachero was able to land 4 service aces, winning strong with the score of 25:11, concluding the first set.


Cachero started the second set with a service ace, her second serve sparked a rally finished by Tolentino’s net error. Tianco gaining five service aces leading up to 8:4. Pandapatan switched with Lim. Four service aces from Cachero gave Holy Family the upper hand with the score of 14:7.


The score’s 20:13, Walo’s service error gave SJC’s Jabal a chance, however ruining it with a service error herself, the serve going back to Holy Family. The same issue happens to Pandapatan and SJC’s Agbayani, with a score of 22:15. The ball goes to Mendeja, who gives a service ace and service error, giving Holy Family a win with Villalobos’ successful service ace, set 2 ending with 25:17, SJC facing defeat with an eight point difference.
